Every time you confirm a payment in Leja Professional, a rent receipt is generated automatically — no separate step required. The receipt is a PDF document that meets the tenancy law requirements of the state where the property is located, not the state where you operate. This means a property in Lagos generates a receipt that complies with the Lagos Tenancy Law 2011, while a property in Oyo generates one that complies with the Oyo State Tenancy Law 2006. Receipts are legal documents. Giving a tenant a Leja receipt satisfies your obligation to issue written acknowledgment of rent received under the applicable state tenancy law.

Receipt format

Every receipt carries a unique identifier in the format LJA-YYYYMM-XXXX — for example, LJA-202506-0042. The number is sequential within your organisation and resets each calendar month.

What a receipt contains

Every receipt includes the following fields, populated from the confirmed payment and property records in Leja Professional:
FieldSource
Receipt numberAuto-generated (LJA-YYYYMM-XXXX)
Property addressProperty record
Tenant full nameTenant record
Amount paidConfirmed payment
Payment period coveredRent charge dates
Payment dateConfirmed payment date
Payment methodConfirmed payment method
Agent or organisation nameYour Leja Professional profile
Stamp fieldsState-law-required fields for the property’s state
The stamp fields on the receipt vary by state. Lagos receipts include the fields required under the Lagos Tenancy Law 2011. Oyo receipts follow the Oyo State Tenancy Law 2006. Leja selects the correct template automatically based on the property’s registered state.

Finding and sharing receipts

Once generated, a receipt is accessible from Treasury → Receipts in Leja Professional. You can:
  • Download the PDF to your device
  • Copy a shareable link and send it directly to the tenant — the link opens the receipt in a browser without requiring the tenant to log in to Leja
  • View the full receipt history for any property or tenant, sorted by date
Receipts are permanently stored and linked to the original payment record. They do not expire.

Document branding

By default, receipts carry Leja branding alongside your organisation name. If you are on a Pro, Business, Scale, or Enterprise subscription, you can configure your receipts to carry your organisation’s own branding — your logo, your letterhead, your colours — instead of Leja’s.
White-label receipts are a strong trust signal when presenting to landlords. An organisationally branded state-compliant receipt demonstrates professional management more convincingly than a generic template.

Pricing

ActionFee
Receipt generated per confirmed payment₦150
The ₦150 fee applies to every receipt — whether you are a solo agent or on a subscription tier. The fee is charged at the time the receipt is generated, immediately after payment confirmation.

Receipts and the Trust Graph

A receipt is not just proof of payment for the tenant — it is part of the witnessed record in Leja’s Trust Graph. The receipt generation event is permanently linked to the payment confirmation and the payment event on the tenant’s record. If the payment was on time, that fact is immutably recorded alongside the receipt. This creates the compounding institutional history that makes your portfolio demonstrably well-managed over time.
Receipts cannot be backdated or pre-dated. The receipt issue date is set at the moment of payment confirmation and cannot be changed.
